Oral Surgeon Joseph R. Howard, DDS, MD

Dr. Joseph R. Howard is a Board-certified Oral Maxillofacial Surgeon. He completed his Oral Surgery residency training at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia both regularly ranked by US News and World Report as top U.S. hospitals. He completed his Medical Degree at The University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine and his Doctorate in Dental Surgery degree from New York University. He completed his undergraduate degree in Biology at Rutgers University. Dr. Howard holds active medical and dental licenses in the state of Connecticut.

Dr. Howard is a diplomate of the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He belongs to a number of professional organizations including The American Medical Association, American Dental Association and Connecticut Society of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery. He has been recognized in Connecticut Magazine’s Top Dentist issue each of the last 6 years; 2010 through 2016.

Dr. Howard prides himself on offering the latest in surgical techniques, in a state-of-the-art, fully digital and paperless environment, designed to put the patient at ease. He utilizes the latest in technology including a cone beam 3 dimensional CT scanner in the office to enhance his ability to both diagnose and treat his patients. To keep abreast of the latest developments in the specialty, he has always exceeded the continuing education requirements of the state.He will spend however much time is necessary with each individual patient to ensure they are comfortable and no question goes unanswered.

Dr. Howard is a huge hockey enthusiast playing competitively for 15 years growing up. He played 4 years of division 1 college tennis in the Big East Conference at Rutgers. He also enjoys golf, teaching oral surgery to residents and spending time with his family.
